Hard to come by items and even harder to source responsibly.
I started making these 12 months ago. 
Tanned items such as furs and paws; 3D prints (to keep it completely sustainable); feline-themed art; bones; and other little strange, fun items. 
Not everything is an animal product or item directly from the animal itself; there are some handmade art items and other novelties to add bulk to the box without having to source more than needed. 
All items that are sourced directly from the animal are carefully created with full permission, ethics, and sustainability in mind. 
We love cats like all animals, and if you've followed me on social media a while, you'll know that any animal's well-being is my priority. I don't slap an ethical label on just any of my products without proof, full disclaimers, and transparency. 
All products in this box sourced directly from the animal itself are labeled as to how that item in particular was sourced, was it a pet donation, as stated above, and why they chose to donate it. 
These are sold as a mystery but with a theme. Items cannot be swapped or refunded.

Cats are pets, though. How do you get these items? 
When I clean skeletons for cat owners, I always ask, "What would you like me to do with the fur?" I ask if they want any of it always. 
However, if they do not, a few clients have allowed me to keep it, knowing it will go to an ethically sourced and much-loved item. All cats I clean and articulate for clients have loved their cats, and I have complete permission to use scraps of fur. 
All cats I work on in this manner have been euthanased by a vet due to incurable illness or old age. 
Will I get a cat skull? 
I could not find enough real cat skulls, as even if I collected feral cat roadkill or feral cat skulls, I really wouldn't get enough to do something like this. Instead, I will include high-quality 3D-printed replicas. 
How are any other items sourced? 
Any other items included in this box are from feral cats that have been culled on private farmland in the rural central Highlands of Tasmania. 
The central Highlands are remote, and there is no resistance on this property within 30 km. All cats roaming on this farm are feral and shot by contract shooters to protect the native wildlife. 
While you might ask why I didn't just get the skulls from these cats. While assumptions might lead you to believe I have heaps of feral cats, that's not true. Over 7 months I've acquired 3 from this shooter, who was originally hired to manage the feral deer numbers on this property. His target isn't particularly feral cats, but if he's working and sees one, he will shoot it. 
Disclaimer—Even if I do get given entire feral cats from pest management, our routine is to check for a microchip. Contrary to what people assume in regard to people shooting cats willy-nilly, within Tasmania you can only hunt/shoot on private land with permission from the owner or in designated public areas; it is highly regulated. You cannot just use a forearm anywhere. You cannot use a forearm in residential areas. This is against the law. 
All cats shot with forearms within Tasmania have come from remote bushland areas. Pet cats do not come that far, and if they do, they're most likely dumped. Cat owners that truly love their cat keep them safe and accounted for. Dumping is also illegal in Tasmania, and if a chipped cat is found in these remote parts, it is reported and handed over to the closest veterinary clinic for further investigation. 
It is a false internet hysteria claiming cats are shot in their own backyards. In Tasmania that would be highly illegal, and not only would you lose your firearms license, but you would most likely receive a prison sentence, and this is the reality of it.
