Chamois Skull Cap Display On Pine

Chamois Skull Cap Display On Pine

The Alpine Chamois (pronounced "shammy" in American English) is by no means a large goat-antelope. They're pretty small!

Small and agile creatures with the most interesting horns. They're straight but have a hook on the end.

These skull caps have been collected from NZ where the chamois was introduced in 1907.

They're not a CITES listed species and in NZ they are introduced. They're considered a species of least concern.

These are recycled skull caps. They were displayed differently before this and had not been cleaned. Although these are a few years old the grease inside the bone was heavy. They are not perfect, they were only collected as dead heads which means they were either found naturally deceased. If you find a hole in your skull cap this is either a natural pathology or where they were previously hung. These are not bullet holes.

These sit on a slice of pine that measures complete with a wall hanger on the back or sit flat if you prefer.
