A super popular bone; the size can vary from a medium to a larger bone reaching 15 cm (L) for a leg bone, but generally you'll see bones ranging from 1 cm to 8 cm. All cats are checked for microchips even if found as roadkill in rural Tasmania throughout various stages of decomposition. If the cat does have a chip or collar, it will not be used for bones. A vet will be notified closest to the location of the deceased animal, and it will also be posted on the Lost and Found Pets of Tasmania Facebook group. We have always successfully tracked down the owner of all deceased cats we have found with a chip or a collar. Cats from suburban areas of Tasmania will be left, and a vet will be notified of the area of the animal, colour, or other specific details.
 
Keeping it as ethical as possible, bones from this species are selected at random, but you will receive bones from the species stated. Stock will depend on what we have cleaned and available or what animals we currently have access to during that time of year or season.
 
No animals are harmed for the purpose of collecting their bones. I live on a homestead with poultry and other animals as well as a lot of farming contacts and suppliers. Animals will and do die, but our utmost priority is the health, safety, and welfare of our livestock; the bones are just a byproduct of natural death, illness, or meat.
