Rare Polydactyly Sambar Deer Foot Articulation
A genuine polydactyly Sambar deer foot articulation.
Completely bizarre but a great rare opportunity to own an oddity like this that is completely Australian.
This particular foot consistents of two of the regular twos with a third fully formed toe bone structure coming out of the metatarus and then a 4th tiny (floating) elongated hoof sheeth with a small bone fragment inside. This 4th toe was completely floating in cartilage and not attached to the metacarpal.
When the foot was placed down in a standing pose this is how the foot was positioned.
This deer was not killed simply for the structure of its unusual feet, the hunter is someone who only hunts for food or pest control and the feet where discovered after the deer was taken for food.
Comes with stand.
Small grease area at the top that will not budge. Bone was drying slightly chalky in other areas so to avoid over processing I have stopped degreasing here. There is no smell and the grease is translucent.
