Fetal Kitten Skull | Oxidized | Small Dome
A fetal kitten skull displayed in a small dome.
These skulls are from kittens that died in utero. Bone from fetal animals is very delicate, thin and difficult to work with. Oxidizing is probably the only choice one has to preserve the bone as it was.
Oxidizing is the method of removing the tissue, leaving the cartilage and then processing in hydrogen peroxide to kill bacteria, clean the bone and allow the cartilage to act as a glue between the tiny delicate bones. When dried, the cartilage sets rock hard and is considered processed. There is no smell, no decomposition, and this process cannot be reversed.
These small skulls were not created by me; they're leftover stock I purchased from another seller. I simply refurbished the domes slightly and removed any excess cartilage that I could without causing any damage.
Each fetal skull is from the same litter of kittens; you may not receive the one pictured, but they're all similar in size and how they're posed in the dome.
The dome is plastic.
